How to Prepare a Karkadè Infusion

  1. Measure – Add 1–2 tablespoons of dried hibiscus flowers to a teapot or saucepan.
  2. Boil water – Bring 500 ml (2 cups) of water to a boil.
  3. Steep – Add the hibiscus, cover, and steep for 5–10 minutes.
  4. Strain & serve – Strain into cups. Enjoy hot, or cool and serve over ice.

Tips:

  • Add cinnamon, ginger, or cloves for a spiced version.
  • Sweeten with honey or sugar to balance the natural tartness.
  • Chill overnight in the fridge for a cold brew with a smoother taste.

 

Hibiscus Cocktail Syrup

  • Simmer 1 cup hibiscus with 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar for 10 minutes.
  • Strain and cool.
  • Use in champagne, gin & tonic, or mocktails for a floral twist.

 

Hibiscus Rice (Caribbean-inspired)

  • Cook rice in a hibiscus infusion instead of plain water.
  • Add spices (cloves, cinnamon) and finish with raisins.
  • Gives rice a subtle tang and a pink hue.

 

Hibiscus Glaze for Cakes

  • Reduce hibiscus tea with sugar until syrupy.
