Kala Namak is a type of rock salt. It is also known as "Himalayan black salt" and it is found in the Himalayas of Nepal, Pakistan and India.
Kala Namak has a high sulphur/sulphite mineral content, which makes it a wonderful substitute for eggs, as it has an unmistakable taste of "hard-boiled egg". The Secret Sanctum Kala Namak has a very delicate smell and is pleasant on the palate.
You can use Kala Namak to prepare tofu scrambles, plant-based mayo and plant-based omelettes with chickpea flour. You can also make plant-based quiches, or plant-based carbonara pasta.
Kala Namak is a favourite for vegans.
If you want to add Kala Namak to a dish, remember to reduce or eliminate the regular salt amount.
